Santa Clarita Valley Signal Endorses Acosta
October 5, 2016
(Santa Clarita Valley, Calif.) – Businessman and Santa Clarita Mayor Pro Tem Dante Acosta has received the endorsement of the Santa Clarita Valley Signal Editorial Board in the lead up to the November 8th election for State Assembly.
Acosta, who serves on the Santa Clarita Valley City Council, has run a positive campaign focused on his efforts to bring people together to advance community interests, which is what he’s committed to doing in Sacramento.
“To have received the endorsement from my local hometown paper is truly an honor,” said Acosta.
The Signal admonished Acosta’s opponent for a “cheap shot” attack, which was easily disproved and demonstrated the misleading efforts his opponent will resort to in order to win.
The Signal said that Acosta’s opponent’s attack was “one unworthy of a person of character.”
On the Democrat’s efforts to tie Acosta to Donald Trump, the Signal said, “We can see no way that any Santa Clarita Valley candidate for public office can be held accountable for the choices of Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton as presidential nominees. Using Trump in a political ad with one’s opponent is the low hanging fruit of Democratic negative campaigning.”
Continuing, “Apparently it’s not too low for Smith to stoop and grasp it.”
Dante Acosta was elected to the Santa Clarita City Council in 2014 and currently serves as Mayor Pro Tem. He is a successful businessman and Gold Star Father. He is running for State Assembly to create jobs, improve our public education system, and put a stop to the early release of criminals, which is placing an unfair burden on local governments and causing an increase in crime.
