Dante Acosta Tops Field in 2017 Fundraising; Doubles Christy Smith's Fundraising Haul

SANTA CLARITA - Assemblyman Dante Acosta substantially outraised Democratic challenger Christy Smith in 2017, demonstrating the continued strength of his reelection campaign.

Acosta outraised Smith by nearly $200,000 in 2017. Acosta raised $322,854, while Smith raised $128,442. Acosta also outpaced Smith in the most recent six-month fundraising period, raising $157,728 to Smith's $79,400. Acosta finished the year with $159,325 cash on hand, more than double Smith's $75,858 cash number.

"Dante is a strong fundraiser for the same reason he is currently leading in the polls: People know he is an independent voice for the 38th District. We're extremely optimistic about our chances in June & November," said Acosta campaign consultant Duane Dichiara.
